As US-Taiwan tariff negotiations reach a critical juncture, Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung today (9th) leads a business delegation to visit Paraguay, a friend country in South America, planning to meet with President Santiago Peña and Foreign Minister Rubén Ramírez, among other officials.

Lin will co-host a reception for the 68th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Taiwan and Paraguay, highlighting the robust friendship between the two countries. With the temporary tariff relief from the United States about to expire, President Lai Ching-te held a video conference last night with the negotiating team that is currently in the US.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs pointed out that since taking office, Lin has actively promoted a multifaceted diplomatic strategy aimed at deepening Taiwan's international connections, and this visit will also inspect various cooperation projects, including the Taiwan-Paraguay Smart Technology Park, to further facilitate economic exchanges between the two nations.
