A man from Keelung, known as A-Loh (pseudonym), joyfully married his Vietnamese wife, A-Miao (pseudonym), at the beginning of 2023, completing their marriage registration in Taiwan on February 8. However, just four days later, A-Miao disappeared after claiming she needed to use the restroom.

After reporting her missing, A-Loh checked surveillance footage and discovered that a vehicle had arrived to pick her up that day, suggesting premeditation. Despite his attempts to contact her, he received no response, leading him to seek a divorce.

The Keelung District Court determined that their marriage could no longer be maintained and ruled in favor of the divorce, citing significant reasons under Article 1052 of the Civil Code, which were not caused by the husband. The case is still open to appeal.
